Do You Know What A Piano Weighs?!?

No, really! Do you?

So, yah, I didn't get my piano this weekend. :(

I had one Mr.Garcia lined up to help, but the hubs was a big fat failure on getting his coworkers to help. We don't have a clue as to how much the piano weighs, and it is stored in a walk out basement, which is great, except that you then have to go over grass with it. I'm at the point that Im considering finding out how much it would cost to have someone move it. Thank God it's free! If anyone out there has any ideas, or would like to volunteer their husbands/boyfriends for the job, I pay in beer! ;)

Finished enough, and an exciting new project!!!

SO! Here is the coffee table that I found at the Salvation Army a while back, for a steal of $20!

However, the shade of green totally dates it! ;) But it is SOLID!!! And it is big! Perfect to withstand my little tazmainian devils, and take up the right amount of space in my ginormous family room!

I love the legs!!!

So, I actually spray painted the legs black satin, that was how I found out that the Valspar spray paint @Lowes, is the best way to go. This table was NOT done with the Valspar. And it took me like 3 or 4 times of painting it for it to turn out just right. I still swear though, that when the light hits it just right, you can still see green!

It actually was brought back into the house, with the top unfinished for a while. It was completely sanded, and we had the stain, and the polyurethane spray for it, it just kept being placed on the back burner behind everything else we have going on.

So 5 months later, its finally done! We did 2 coats of the stain, but I wish we would have done 1 if not 2 more. I wanted it to be REALLY dark, but, whatever! It's done and it looks nice! Maybe when we move, I'll put some more stain on there after we are settled, or I have even thought about putting mosaic tiles on the top. I think it would look fab with those legs! ;)

Gus-gus says hi! :)

So, now for my new project that I am SO EXCITED for!!! This saturday I am getting THIS:

FOR FREE!!!
Gotta love Craigslist!!!

I know it doesn't look like much, but I have big plans for it! A couple of keys need to be replaced, and it needs to be tuned, but I don't care about that stuff! I want to turn it into THIS:

Isn't it beautiful?! Okay, so I might not do turquoise, but it will be some fab, bright, out-of-the-norm color! And I love that it has the bench to go with it!
My husband wasn't quite so thrilled with my latest adventure, but I was able to talk him into it by repeating the fact that it was "FREE" over and over! ;)
I'm hoping that in September I will be able to get it sanded, and possibly primed, (since after September 1st I will not be working anymore and have 2, YES! 2 Kids in school!!!) but it wont be completed until we are moved, because I am hoping for a whole new look in our new place!

L Bugg's Dresser

This was one of my projects that went wrong.

I bought this off of a neighbor on base that was PCSing to Texas, for $15. At the time, I figured, it's ugly, but it will hold the clothes, so I'll just keep it in the closet. But since I have been getting creative with things, I'm starting to see them differntly. I decided to try to spray paint it. I figured that if it went wrong, it was only $15!

I didn't think to take a before picture until after I had painted the 1st drawer. Ugly. Plain. Etc.

So, I decided on a spray paint called "Blue Lagoon" but it was by a different brand than what I used on Madison's shelf. And this brand, ran, everywhere... Fast. FYI, If you try to spray paint furniture, use Lowe's Valspar Spray Paint! So, I had to do 1 side at a time, and wait until each side was completely dried. Especially since my husband was working in the garage, and was stirring up all kinds of dust, which would then land on my wet spray paint! :(

Finally got the whole thing painted, and went to put these cute little knobs on it (that I found at Lowe's, on clearance for .75 each!) and the knobs were too big! Grrr! Well, not the knobs, the screws. So, then I had to wait on the hubs to get around to cutting the screws down for me.

Finally put it back in Livy's room, and 2 weeks later it was scratched up. I very quickly learned about polyurathane clear coating! So once again, I had to remove the knobs, re spray paint, one side at a time, and then this time spray a coat of poly coating. Which, it never failed, everytime I would try to work on it, it would get windy. So, I now have a pair of "Blue Lagoon" tennis shoes!

Overall, I like the outcome! I found a decal I want to get to put on the front of it, but until then, I'm happy with it!

And Buggy Boo likes it too! :)

One more down!!!

So, FINALLY! A project down! I started this one, in like, January! But then I got side tracked with all the Valentines Day crafts, and then the C.N.A. program, and then trying to catch up on everything I got behind in during the C.N.A. program, etc.!

So, this was a shelf that belonged to my Grandma before she died. It was like a flat blue. Almost chalk like. My grandfather gave it to my mom when he sold his house, and my mom primered it for Madison's room when she was born, but never got much further before we had to move to Nebraska. But she did get my brother to paint the top.

Can you believe he did that free hand?! Ugh! Makes me sick! ;)

Well, we have now been here for almost 5 years, and It was just so plain. and scuffed from moves from base house to base house to off base house (yes, we move every other year!) Plus the back of it was open. It kinda bothered me. So after seeing what a friend did in her daughters room (yes, you Mrs. Walsh!) I had a thought; "I have seen sites that people have wallpapered the back panel inside of their hutch or bookcase, I should do that! But wait! There isnt a back panel! Crap!" So I started to look into getting some cheap plywood. But turns out, plywood isn't as cheap as I thought. And since the hubs was gone at the time, I wasn't too confident it testing my skill saw skills (or finding out they were lacking). But my friend made these cute little flowers and birds out of foam panels, and covered them in fabric! YES!!!! I had my answer! AND foam panels, would fit inside my car!

So Miss M and I picked out some fabric for each panel, and I cut them to fit each section, and then hot glued the fabric to the foam. I spray painted the whole thing with white gloss spray paint (which it has this really pretty pearl like effect, it's that glossy). And today I finally nailed the panels on.

Ta-Da!

We even added the trim to the front of each shelf. It gave it a little something extra, and there is a lip that catches, so things don't fall off, or can too easily be pulled off by little hands!

Enjoying being lazy!

So part of the reason that I have not had any recent blogs is because I have been very busy! on February 28th I started a CNA program at Clarkson College. It was only 3 nights a week, but then we had gymnastics on one of the nights that I didnt have class, and then we had to cram as much as possible in on the weekends (plus study time!) Well, I am happy to say that I am finally done! And even though it was a pass/fail class, and I passed, I still did the math and I passed with a 92.6% average. And I got a 90% on my State Written Exam (you needed at least a 70% to pass). I'm really excited, since this is the 1st type of schooling/classes that I have completed in the 10 ears since I graduated from high school.

Now for the second reason that I haven't posted anything, nothing has turned out!!! It is seriously pissing me off! Nothing has come out the way that I wanted, or has just been completely shot to hell altogether! The crafting God is mad at me in a big way! So I'll post what I have done so far, and how it went wrong! Hope someone out there gets a good laugh out it! ;)

Valentines Day Arts & Crafts Pt2

So this was what I made my Lovah for Valentines Day. There was supposed to be a picture of us on the left side somewhere, but the most recent picture I have of us was when we were on vacation last summer, and he was makin the stink face cause "the sun was in my eyes"... Ya ya, he was just pissy cause I pulled him off the golf course! ;)
I went to a thrift store and bought a Scrabble game for $2! Whoever donated it even left their dictionary in there! So I got my $2's worth! And I still have a ton of tiles I can use for later projects!

I thought this quote was kind of fitting with the whole Scrabble tile theme!
This is the topiary that I made for my Leslie. She wanted a wreath, but I was wantig to try something else. This took F-O-R-E-V-E-R!!!! But she loved it (at least thats what she told me to my face) And she can put it out next Valentines Day too.

And this was the 1st project. This wreath and the topiary are made with cupcake papers. The wreath I did the whole thing in about 2 hrs, while watching "The Young Victoria".

Valentines Arts & Crafts Pt 1

A couple of days before Valentine's Day it was Madison's turn to bring snack. I found this super cute idea on the JIF website. (I was there to look up the yummy cookie recipe that Megan's husband got me hooked on, BEST peanut butter cookies!!)

So, I figured with Valentine's Day just a couple days away why not get festive! Besides, what kid doesn't like PB&J?!

And I'm sure most people have seen these pictures already if you are not on FaceBook, or in my address book and didn't get a Valentine's card from us, here is some pictures we had done for Jonathen for Valentine's Day.

This picture of Madison breaks my heart a little. She is getting WAY to big!

She was supposed to be "Baby Madison" forever! (That's what her cousin called her)

When I tell her to stop growing, she says "MOOOOMMMM! Ima big girl now! That's just what I do! -Ugh. Attitude. Already. At 4. Joy. Lately she's been on this kick though, she keeps asking me when her baby brother Tyler is going to be in my tummy.... She must know something I don't!

And this was the one we used for the cards. I know you can't tell from the pics but Livy was the biggest turd-monkey that day! That's why the only pictures she is in, there is candy involved!

I think Valentines Day was when I hit my creativity peak! Here are some pics of some of the crafts I made to decorate for the holiday!
